Learn (Do) Anything You Want.
Everything You Need to Create a Learning Plan and Accelerate Your Learning Ability
Most people waste a lot of time when they learn.
But it’s not their fault.
Despite attending school for most of our lives, shockingly, few of us were taught a reliable and repeatable approach to gaining new knowledge and skills.
And yet, learning is one of the most important skills for getting what you want in life.
No matter your current goals, whether related to your career, academics, spirituality, physical health, or emotional growth — learning is the skill set that can get you there.
All you need is two things:
A well-organized learning plan
The right accelerated learning strategies
What Is a Learning Plan?
A learning plan is a detailed action plan outlining your learning journey from start to finish.
A great learning plan always includes the following:
A well-defined learning goal
A deconstruction of that learning goal into requisite subgoals
A hand-curated list of credible resources
A learning roadmap outlining your action plan
Progress-tracking for measuring your growth over time
And the best part:
You can create your own learning plan for any learning goal.
What Are Accelerated Learning Strategies?
Of course, a learning plan is only the first step to effective learning.
You also need to use effective learning methods. I call these accelerated learning strategies.
Accelerated learning strategies are highly effective learning methods for remembering, understanding, applying knowledge and skills, analyzing, evaluating, and creating.
When learning, most of us “default” to low-effort, low-output learning methods — for example:
We read and re-read course notes instead of forcing ourselves to remember them verbally or in writing
We passively skim through learning materials instead of actively and purposefully engaging with them
We take notes once, hoping to automatically remember them instead of converting them into flashcards, mental representations, and memory palaces
We mindlessly repeat skills over and over instead of using principles of deliberate practice
We do this because it’s easier.
While accelerated learning strategies lead to above-average performance, they’re more difficult and uncomfortable to use in the short term.
The good news is that by making marginal changes to your learning methods, you can rapidly improve your learning ability.
